inSide by Side: iOS | PSP | Android
Enter the mobile world. GM can now be ported to the iOS, Android, and PSP. Which is best? Let’s take a dive into each of these and see.
Android
The Android is no easy port. Your game has to work on devices with varying amounts of CPU, memory, size, and controls. There is however very little competition. Big game companies like EA, Capcom, Mobile, Ngmoco, Pangea, Popcap, and IDs have devloped a total of 172 apps for the iOS and 0 apps for the Android. Anyone can develop apps for the Android so its’ 130,000 apps don’t mean much whereas Apple’s 300,000 apps are of much higher quality.
iOS
iOS games don’t have to be modified to work on as many devices as possible. If a game works on the first generation iPhone and iTouch, it will work on all iPhones and iTouches. Apple’s apps have been downloaded 10 billion times so there is plenty of exposure going around per app.
PSP
Definitely the best gaming device. Competition here is tough with many high end companies here. The review process can take months. With sleightly less than half the customers the iOS has, the market here is good. At least it is if you can beat top niche companies.
